Application of Solid-liquid Separation Equipment

Solid-liquid separation technology is widely used in various industries, such as chemical industry, mineral processing, pharmaceutical, and environment protection.

 

1. Chemical Industry

 

In the inorganic salt production process, it commonly includes acid hydrolysis, alkali dissolution, filtration, separation and washing. For example, in the alkali industry, the filtration of heavy alkali and the separation of ammonia Ⅱ mud; in the production of chemical fertilizer, the filtration of phosphorous gypsum and the separation of acid insoluble, they are all inseparable from solid-liquid separation operation. The separation effect directly affects the quality and quantity of the product.

 

In recent years, with the rapid development of fine inorganic chemical products, solid-liquid separation equipment has been more and more used. In addition, solid-liquid separation is also used in the production process of petrochemical products, dyes, pigments, coatings and cement. It plays an important role in the chemical industry.

 

2. Mining and Hydrometallurgy

 

Almost all the mineral processing and hydrometallurgy processes are related to solid-liquid separation, such as the production of aluminium oxide and zinc oxide, the leaching (acid leaching, salt leaching, cyanidation leaching) and purification in gold production, the recovery of coal preparation water and the rational utilization of coal powder. It is not only beneficial to environment protection, but also can achieve the purpose of comprehensive utilization of energy, with a very broad application prospect.

 

3. Pharmaceutical, Biological Fermentation and Biological Products

 

In the pharmaceutical industry, such as the production of antibiotics and the preparation of sterile water, solid-liquid separation is widely used.

 

In the process of biological fermentation, in order to separate the fermentation liquid and mycelium, filtration and centrifugation are commonly used.

 

In the fermentation industry, microfiltration and ultrafiltration are commonly used for the concentration and separation of alkaline protease, lipase and polysaccharide microorganisms. Compared with the traditional method, its operating cost is only half. In addition, the comprehensive utilization of fermentation residue can not only reduce the environment pollution, but also produce high quality feeds.

 

4. Environment Protection

 

A large number of sewage will be produced in industrial production and daily life. If the sewage is discharged without treatment, it will seriously pollute the environment and affect people’s health. At present, sewage biological treatment is an important method, including sludge concentration, coagulation, dewatering and incineration. The dewatering effect will affect the energy consumption of the whole process.

 

For example, in food industry, there are a lot of proteins in the sewage. If the sewage is directly discharged, not only the environment will be polluted, but also a lot of proteins will be lost. But after sedimentation, dewatering and membrane filtration, a large amount of production water will be saved, and valuable proteins will be recovered.
