Precautions of Disc Separator in Daily Operation

When the disc separator is working, the automatic slag discharge operation shall be strictly carried out. The operator should strengthen the patrol inspection. In case of any abnormality, the operator must manually discharge the slag and fully wash the drum, so as to avoid the slag accumulation in the drum body and affect the dynamic balance of the drum.

The separator operates at a high speed. After shutdown, due to the large inertia of the drum and the long idling time, it is not allowed to start the separator again before it stopped stably. Otherwise it will affect the transmission pin and spiral transmission gear of the friction cylinder.

During the assembly of the separator, the drum should be rotated by hand, which must be flexible and free from jamming. The disc set must be fully compressed, otherwise the balance of the drum will be damaged and abnormal vibration of the machine will be caused. If the main locking ring is easy to lock the drum cover and the marks are aligned during assembly, that’s because the disc pressure is not enough, so it’s necessary to increase the number of the discs, and ensure that the mark angle of the main locking ring is less than 25°.

Before starting the separator, check whether the brake is released, whether the oil level in the gearbox is correct, and whether the motor turns, especially after restarting or maintenance of the motor. Due to the large moment of inertia of the drum, the large starting current and long duration, the electrical equipment and lines should be able to bear a large load.

The drum is a very important part of the separator. The parts of the drum are not allowed to be interchanged with the other separators. After long-term work, the parts should be sent to the factory for NDT and dynamic balance inspection, including parts cleaning and surface treatment, to ensure the normal operation of the drum.

No defect is allowed on the cone of vertical axis and drum positioning, and should pay attention to protect it from damage when disassembling. If damaged, it should be corrected by scraper, oilstone and metallographic sandpaper to be smooth and flat, mechanical processing method is not allowed. Otherwise, the positioning accuracy will be affected or damaged, resulting in abnormal vibration of the machine.
